behind the embroidery
I have been practicing the art of needlework for as far back as I can remember. My mom is an avid and amazing quilter and got me into sewing at a young age. I studied visual arts at university, joined the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa, and then continued on to a program for fashion design at Parsons, The New School for Design. During my time at Parsons, I took up the art of embroidery and quickly became fascinated and enthralled with every stitch.
My drive for starting Embroidery and Sage was twofold. In addition to creating beautiful home décor, I hope to encourage others to use these modern DIY kits to learn new stitches and experience what generations of embroiderers have long known—how deeply rewarding it can be to create art with your own hands.
Each embroidery design starts with an illustration of mine. I use mood boards to create a color palette for each collection and then carefully choose threads and stitches to bring each design to life. Each kit includes easy-to-follow instructions and everything needed to complete a project from start to finish for the experienced and novice alike. I am proud to share these designs, and hope that you will appreciate the time, love, and dedication put forth in their creation.
Thank you for your support always, and happy stitching!
