stitch your stress away

Did you know that April is Stress Awareness Month? It's a nice reminder to take the time to reflect on the importance of self-care and finding healthy ways to reduce stress. While there are many ways to destress, such as cooking, reading, or getting in touch with nature; one activity that has proven to help reduce stress levels, is embroidery.
As someone who spends a lot of time stitching, I can attest to how calming and therapeutic it can be to have a needle and thread in hand. Embroidery puts you in a meditative state, allowing your mind to focus on the present moment and release any worries or stressors that may be weighing you down. As you stitch, your breathing slows down and your heart rate lowers, promoting a sense of relaxation and calmness.
There is something truly magical about creating art with your own hands, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it is incredibly rewarding. I recently had the opportunity to visit family in New York, and was mesmerized by the beautiful years of stitching that adorned the walls of my relative's homes. Seeing all those framed needleworks was truly inspiring, and it reminded me of the unique and special value that handmade art brings to our lives.
So let's take April's Stress Awareness reminder to "stitch your stress away", and find relaxation and calm anytime of the year. Seek out some #metime and take a moment to breathe deeply and focus; one stitch at a time. Happy Stitching!
